Wendy Akerboom,RMT

After working for 17yrs in film, a physically demanding industry, Wendy became all to familiar with pain and fatigue, at which point she turned to massage as away to cope. This led her on a journey back to school, in 2006, to become a Massage Therapist, where she excelled. Graduating in 2009 from Centennial College, where she was trained in the traditional Swedish massage style with adjunct techniques such as: joint mobilization, myofascial release, and other neuromuscular techniques. She is also trained in NISA (Neuromuscular Integration and Structural Alignment), which is a 12 session fascial therapy designed to treat postural imbalances, which if un-treated can lead to pain and dysfunction. She is a Vodder trained Therapy I, manual lymph drainage (MLD) therapist, which is a very superficial rhythmic therapy acting on the lymphatic system and stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system . At the Therapy I level she can treat localized swelling, pain and discomfort due to surgery and, or injury and general wear and tear. Wendy has worked with a large array of clients: from babies to seniors; with a broad spectrum of conditions: from injuries to physical impairment. Her training has given her the ability to assess and treat her clients appropriately by personalize the treatment to suit their specific needs.
