Wendy Akerboom,RMT
After working for 17yrs in film, a physically demanding industry, Wendy became all to familiar with pain and fatigue, at which point she turned to massage as away to cope. This led her on a journey back to school, in 2006, to become a Massage Therapist, where she excelled.
Graduating in 2009 from Centennial College, where she was trained in the traditional Swedish massage style with adjunct techniques such as: joint mobilization, myofascial release, and other neuromuscular techniques. She is also trained in NISA (Neuromuscular Integration and Structural Alignment), which is a 12 session fascial therapy designed to treat postural imbalances, which if un-treated can lead to pain and dysfunction.
She is a Vodder trained Therapy I, manual lymph drainage (MLD) therapist, which is a very superficial rhythmic therapy acting on the lymphatic system and stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system . At the Therapy I level she can treat localized swelling, pain and discomfort due to surgery and, or injury and general wear and tear.
Wendy has worked with a large array of clients: from babies to seniors; with a broad spectrum of conditions: from injuries to physical impairment. Her training has given her the ability to assess and treat her clients appropriately by personalize the treatment to suit their specific needs. Since stress plays a major role in dysfunction, relaxation is a critical role in treatment.
The human form has an incredible ability to adapt and is very resilient and with the right care one can learn to lead a long and healthy life,
“Your health is your wealth”
